It hangs in the air,
Over watchful eyes,
A silence falls heavy,
Mouths gape in surprise.

Far in the distance,
A pin-drop is heard,
But nobody, nobody,
Pronounces a word.

Gazes pierce through it,
Like needles of pain,
The silence, icy,
Like a downpour of rain.

It wants to hide,
Or run away,
But it cannot move,
For it’s on display.

Please, bear me this
Agonizing session,
I didn’t mean for this to happen;
…It was only a
Question.

It hangs in the air,

Over watchful eyes,

A silence falls heavy,

Mouths gape in surprise.

Far in the distance,

A pin-drop is heard,

But nobody, nobody,

Pronounces a word.

Gazes pierce through it,

Like needles of pain,

The silence, icy,

Like a downpour of rain.

It wants to hide,

Or run away,

But it cannot move,

For it’s on display.

Please, bear me this

Agonizing session,

I didn’t mean for this to happen;

…It was only a

Question.
